Awards & Honours

Each year the Blackburn Ladies Softball League likes to honour members of our softball community who have contributed to the softball season, and recognize them with an award at the Year-End Banquet.

Grahame Bailey Most Improved Player Award

Grahame Bailey was an umpire who officiated many games over the years.  In 1998, he suggested this award as he was always amazed by the progress some women made during a season. He wanted to recognize the ability of our league to welcome everyone no matter what their experience or ability.  The recipients of this award showed the most improvement over the duration of the season and the willingness to learn and grow as a player.  This recipient is nominated by their peers.

John Cameron was a member of the Blackburn community who came to games every night for years, even when he didn’t have any connection to the league. He came to watch because it was an enjoyable place to be. The recipient of this award embodies the character and spirit of our league - she is excited to be at the diamond, helps out everywhere she can and is just an awesome person to be around.   First honoured in 2015, the recipient of this award is selected by the BLSL Executive Team.
