Approved Bat List

Approved Bats

The Blackburn Ladies Softball League (BLSL) will provide legal equipment, available for use by all players, at the field during league games.

However, it is understood that players may want to provide their own equipment, including bats.  Any player purchasing a bat acknowledges that they do so at their own cost, and there is a risk that the bat may be deemed illegal by the umpire at any game, either due to damage or changes to certification stamps listed below.

BLSL will strive to offer the most up to date information on legal and non-approved bats.  If you have any questions on if your bat is legal after reading this information please do not hesistate to contact the BLSL Executive, or your game umpire.

BLSL adheres to the Softball Canada policy on approved bats.  The following is from the Softball Canada website:

FAST PITCH - MALE (UP TO U19) AND FEMALE (ALL LEVELS)

Acceptable Certification Stamps:

  • Any bat that appears on the WBSC Softball Approved Bat List and has a current ISF certification stamp (2005 only) or WBSC certification (shown above) will be accepted for play at a Softball Canada event or,
  • Any bat that appears on the USA Softball Approved Bat List and has an ASA 2000 or 2004 certification stamp or USA Softball 2019 certification stamp (shown above) will also be accepted for play at a Softball Canada event.
  • The bat must meet the compression standards outlined by the certifying organization and may be tested to ensure they are in the proper range.
  • The bat must still pass a visual inspection per the current Softball Canada rulebook.

More information can be found by visiting the Softball Canada website, where the bat list is available.
